I started this venture over 20 years ago because I had an interesting idea that I could build a business while my infant son was napping.

I was a little naive about that--but the infant is now over 6 feet tall, and I'm still doing what I love to do.

"Passionate idealist" is probably the phrase that best describes me. I have a passion for information equity, public health and science, clear communication, and plain language. I'm an intersectional feminist and antiracist activist in lifelong training, a friend to members of the LGBTQIA community, and an advocate for racial, economic, social, and environmental justice. I believe words can remake the world, and my work reflects that belief.

Over the course of my career, I’ve had the honor of writing for U.S. Presidents, Ambassadors, Cabinet Secretaries, and Surgeons General. I've also written for elementary school kids and people who struggle with literacy.
